This amazing 10 minute video captures very well the joy of fixing broken things. It comes to us through a recommendation from Paul VK3HN in Melbourne, Australia. Thanks Paul.
I hope we will see more from Van Neistat. He already has a bunch of videos on his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5mPJA4y5G8Z6aNkY6AxgAw
I often tell the story of the OT (probably now an SK) who at hamfests would ask if a piece of old gear was working. If the vendor answered honestly and said no, OT would reply, “Good, I pay extra for that.” He too liked to fix things.

I have many childhood memories of taking perfectly functional items apart and reassembling. My sister’s record player comes to mind. It is my fervent hope that I will have fewer “left over” parts as I continue this practice in the years to come.
The Knack!
That was a very nicely made and refreshing video. I watched a few of his other videos. Highly recommended.
I did it for years. Electronics. When all the guys were coming back from Vietnam , stereos, tape players, eventually CB radios. Then went to mobile phones, fire police sheriff radios. and eventually TV stations. Favorite times two way radios and mountain top equipment. I still do that for emergency ham radio operators.
Very intriguing content on Van Neistat’s YouTube channel. Thanks for the heads up!
