1625 Tubes and Si5351 Chips: JH8SST’s FB Rig

Peter has been helping Jun JH8SST and other Japanese hams get their Si5351 synthesizers working with various displays. Jun has had some great success as you can see in the above video. I really like the combination of old (1625) and new (Si5351) technology.

Jun is a long-time homebrewer who as built some amazing stuff. Check out the pictures on his QRZ.com page:

And look at his cool 128×128 TFT display:

  1. Comment above was re:2nd clip. FB the Tx! For the uninitiated: 1625’s are the 12V-filament version of the venerable and venerated 807. 🙂

  2. Thanks Dex. The 1625 was once very popular Class C amplifier tube in mid 1950’s. They work really nice in my linear amplifier. Plate voltage is 800 V, running 50W out put ! The exiter is also a 12 MHz X’tal filter-type, employing ring balanced modulator and type 12AX7A tubes for Microphone amploifier.

  3. Thanks alot for the comment, Steve. The type 1625 Tubes from mid 1950’s, and latest si5351 and Arduino are working in harmony in my station ! They are doing really nice job for me. JH8SST/7
