Lights and TV during blackouts! My Inverter ($69)

People have been asking about the DC to AC inverter that I have been using during the now frequent power outages (5 in the last two years, two of them since July 2012). With it I can easily keep the lights on in the house and even run the TV. Not bad for $69. Here it is:

  1. On the morning of On Jan. 17, 1994 it had been about 2 years since I had started my own business and was running it out of my house. At 0430 Pacific, the Northridge earthquake (6.7 magnitude) struck. 3 minutes after the shaking stopped so did the A.C. power. Fortunately my service van was parked in the driveway so I sauntered outside, opened the cargo door, flipped the switch for the bench inverter, rolled out the extension cord and plugged in the T.V. & living room lights. The whole neighborhood was pitch black except for my house and I got the biggest kick out of watching the neighbors out in their front yards looking at my house and scratching their heads. 73…….Steve Smith WB6TNL “Snort Rosin”
